Die Antworten sind interessant:
Societies constant, stubborn, adamant refusal to acknowledge it even exists let alone combat it properly. All it would take is a little education and we’d see huge progress, but we can’t acknowledge it exists or is as bad in the same way that we do with something like racism.
People, even well meaning ones, fall prey to misinformation and anti-feminist propaganda and seem to see society as basically equal with no link between one sexist incident and the next, let alone a larger system of misogyny.
Da dürfte hier eine gewisse Zustimmung bestehen, zumindest bei der Annahme, dass das Patriarchat nicht besteht und das das größte Hindernis bei seiner Bekämpfung ist.

Most people don’t understand it as a concept. They think of it like some sort of very literal hierarchy where men can just at a whim make things happen for them or against women. But it’s more like a disease that infests the mind. A social schema that people can’t break away from. It’s rooted in the halls of power precisely because you can’t just vote out or overthrow a given set of individuals. It whispers false promises of power and control in the ears of men. Auch eine hübsche Anreihung von Floskeln und unbestimmten Begriffen. Eine Krankheit, ein Schema, das Leute nicht ablegen können. Irgendwie unbestimmt und unbesiegbar. Ein Geist quasi, der falsche (!) Versprechungen in die Ohren der Männer flüstert.
That half of society doesn’t want to. And sure it’s not literally all men, but it’s a lot more than anyone would want to believe. And there’s even a lot of women that have internalised that this is just the way the world is.
Die Klausel, dass die Frauen das „verinnerlicht haben“ finde ich auch immer wieder faszinierend. Es ersetzt jedes Denken der Frauen, ist quasi eine Gehirnwäsche, denn sonst würden sie ja erkennen, dass es schlecht ist (und selbst lieber Nachtschichten in Stahlwerken arbeiten oder in Führungspositionen 60+ Stundenwochen absolvieren)
Hier noch etwas mit etwas mehr Gehalt:
A lot of boys get told all through their childhood that they have to be men, they have to be manly and all that, so they spend their whole childhoods and young adulthood investing their sense of self in being a man.
Anything that’s a threat to that sense of self, that suggests they have to relax or let go of their identity as men is hard for these men to come to terms with. You can see this on MensLib fairly often: the guys that can acknowledge patriarchy, but only to the extent it does not threaten their own sense of identity. The patriarchy is someone else, which means they don’t have to reflect on their own manhood. And if you say, ‚yeah, it’s you and almost everybody else‘, they get upset. That upset, that anger is coming from a place of deep anxiety with respect to their sense of self.
If patriarchy isn’t just some men — and it’s not — but how our ideas of man and woman are co-constructed into a social hierarchy — and it is — dismantling patriarchy means dismantling our ideas about what it means to be a man. Most guys find that really uncomfortable, even unthinkable.
Frauen hingegen, die das Frausein verteidigen, sich ihre Partner und ihre Jobs bewußt so aussuchen, dass sie in einem Teilzeitjob die Kinder betreuen können, haben eben nur das Patriarchat verinnerlich und werden unterdrückt.
