„Aufwachsen im Pornoland: Mit Pornographie konditionierte Jungs und die Folgen“

Eine auch hier schon häufig gehörte Klage ist, dass Pornos ein vollkommen falsches Bild von Sex vermittelt und damit insbesondere für Frauen negativ ist.

Ein Text dazu fasst das wie folgt:

If there are still any questions about whether porn has an impact on young people’s sexual attitudes and behaviours, perhaps it’s time to listen to young people themselves. Girls and young women describe boys pressuring them to provide acts inspired by the porn they consume routinely. Girls tell of being expected to put up with things they don’t enjoy.

Some see sex only in terms of performance, where what counts most is the boy enjoying it. I asked a 15-year-old about her first sexual experience. She replied: „I think my body looked OK. He seemed to enjoy it“. Many girls seem cut off from their own sense of pleasure or intimacy. That he enjoyed it is the main thing. Girls and young women are under a lot of pressure to give boys and men what they want, to adopt pornified roles and behaviours, with their bodies being merely sex aids. Growing up in a pornified landscape, girls learn that they are service stations for male gratification and pleasure.

Ich finde es ja immer erstaunlich, dass sie nicht zumindest mal Jungs befragen, um zu schauen, wie die das sehen. Die meisten Jungs stehen ja beim ersten Sex noch unter einem wesentlich größeren Performancedruck als Frauen, da sie schauen müssen, dass alles klappt, wesentlich aktiver sein müssen, nicht zu früh kommen dürfen etc. „Ich glaube sie fand es gut“ wäre da auch etwas, was mich bei Jungs nicht überraschen würde.

Asked „How do you know a guy likes you?,“ a Year 8 replied: „He still wants to talk to you after you suck him off.“ A male high school student said to a girl: „If you suck my dick I’ll give you a kiss.“ Girls are expected to provide sex acts for tokens of affection. A 15-year-old told me she didn’t enjoy sex at all, but that getting it out of the way quickly was the only way her boyfriend would settle down and watch a movie with her.

Ich habe erhebliche Zweifel, dass das so ist. Allenfalls ist es bei den Jungs, die keinerlei Probleme haben, ein Mädchen zu bekommen und die an den jeweiligen Mädchen auch nicht wirklich interessiert sind, der Fall. Die meisten Jungs werden keineswegs in der Lage sein für einen Blowjob einen Kuss eintauschen zu können.

I’m increasingly seeing Year 7 girls who seek help on what to do about requests for naked images. Being asked „send me a picture of your tits“ is an almost daily occurrence for many. „How do I say ’no‘ without hurting his feelings“? girls ask.

Das Nacktbilder zugenommen haben kann ich mir vorstellen. Aber auch da sind sich ja nun die meisten Mädchen bewußt, dass das eine sensible Sache ist und man es allenfalls in einer festen Partnerschaft macht.

As the Plan Australia/Our Watch report found, girls are tired of being pressured for images they don’t want to send, but they seem resigned to how normal the practice has become. Boys use the images as a form of currency, to swap and share and to use to humiliate girls publicly.

Year 7 girls ask me questions about bondage and S&M. Many of them had seen 50 Shades of Grey (which was released on Valentine’s Day). They ask, if he wants to hit me, tie me up and stalk me, does that mean he loves me? Girls are putting up with demeaning and disrespectful behaviours, and thereby internalizing pornography’s messages about their submissive role.

Zumal 50 Shades ja auch deswegen bekannt wurde, weil Männer es verschlungen haben und  nicht Frauen.

I meet girls who describe being groped in the school yard, girls routinely sexually harassed at school or on the school bus on the way home. They tell me boys act like they are entitled to girls‘ bodies. Defenders of porn often say that it provides sex education. And it does: it teaches even very young boys that women and girls are always up for it. „No“ in fact means yes, or persuade me.

Ich kam mir bei meinem ersten Sex im internetlosen Zeitalter durchaus verloren vor. Irgendwie hatte ich mich mit der weiblichen Anatomie da unten zu wenig beschäftigt. Bilder, die da Details zeigten, waren damals wesentlich schwerer zu bekommen. Ich glaube auch, dass jedem normalen Jungen der Unterschied zwischen dem Verhalten von Pornodarstellerinnen und den Mädchen aus seiner Klasse durchaus bewußt ist. Auch ist ihm bewußt, dass weitaus eher die Mädchen entscheiden, ob es zum Sex kommt.

Girls describe being ranked at school on their bodies, and are sometimes compared to the bodies of porn stars. They know they can’t compete, but that doesn’t stop them thinking they have to.

Es ist natürlich intrasexuelle Konkurrenz, die da an Frauen und Mädchen herangetragen wird. Da Sex nunmehr Folgenlos möglich ist, wird er auch erwartet und damit bestehen höhere Anforderungen der Männer. Ich kann mir aber nach wie vor nicht vorstellen, dass Frauen nicht merken, dass Männer sie wollen, auch wenn sie nicht perfekt aussehen. Sie dürften dies eigentlich wesentlich mehr merken als Jungs.

Requests for labiaplasty havetripled in a little over a decade among young women aged 15-24.

Aber kommen dennoch kaum vor. Klar, wenn es vorher eine Frau von 10.000 gemacht hat und jetzt 3, dann ist das eine verdreifachung. Aber eben immer noch nichts, was ein Problem für das typische Mädchen von heute darstellt.

Normales Rasieren ist nach wie vor vollkommen akzeptiert.

Some girls suffer physical injury from porn-inspired sexual acts, including anal sex. The director of a domestic violence centre on the Gold Coast wrote to me a couple of years ago about the increase in porn-related injuries to girls aged 14 and up, from acts including torture:

„In the past few years we have had a huge increase in intimate partner rape of women from 14 to 80+. The biggest common denominator is consumption of porn by the offender. With offenders not able to differentiate between fantasy and reality, believing women are ‚up for it‘ 24/7, ascribing to the myth that ’no means yes and yes means anal‘, oblivious to injuries caused and never ever considering consent. We have seen a huge increase in deprivation of liberty, physical injuries, torture, drugging, filming and sharing footage without consent.“

Das es eher zu Analsex kommt kann ich mir gut vorstellen, wobei ich noch nicht einmal glaube, dass die Rate so hoch ist, abgesehen von etwas experimentieren.

Das dabei die Vergewaltigungszahlen hochgegangen sind kann ich mir auch kaum vorstellen. Sie berufen sich ja leider nicht auf eine Studie, so dass man die Zahlen kaum vergleichen kann. „Der Spruch „no means yes and yes means anal‘ macht es für mich vollkommen unglaubwürdig, da er eigentlich recht erkennbar eine Provokation ist, die nicht ernst gemeint ist.

The Australian Psychological Society estimates that adolescent boys are responsible for around 20% of rapes of adult women and between 30% and 50% of all reported sexual assaults of children. Just last week , Emeritus Professor Freda Briggs argued that online pornography is turning children into copycat sexual predators – acting out on other children what they are seeing in porn.

Auch hier wäre interessant, wie man eine kausale Verbindung herleiten will: Das Vergewaltiger gerne Pornos schauen bedeutet ja nicht, dass Leute, die gerne Pornos schauen vergewaltigen. Es ist aus meiner Sicht durchaus verständlich, dass jemand, der etwa von Sex besessen ist aber immer wieder abgewiesen wird, seine Frustation über Pornos abbaut und insoweit einen passenden Konsum hat

A 2012 review of research on „The Impact of Internet Pornography on Adolescents“ found that adolescent consumption of Internet pornography was linked to attitudinal changes, including acceptance of male dominance and female submission as the primary sexual paradigm, with women viewed as „sexual playthings eager to fulfil male sexual desires.“ The authors found that „adolescents who are intentionally exposed to violent sexually explicit material were six times more likely to be sexually aggressive than those who were not exposed.“

Ich vermute mal, dass es diese Studie ist. Aus der Zusammenfassung:

Increased access to the Internet by adolescents has created unprecedented opportunities for sexual education, learning, and growth. Conversely, the risk of harm that is evident in the literature has led researchers to investigate adolescent exposure to online pornography in an effort to elucidate these relationships. Collectively, these studies suggest that youth who consume pornography may develop unrealistic sexual values and beliefs. Among the findings, higher levels of permissive sexual attitudes, sexual preoccupation, and earlier sexual experimentation have been correlated with more frequent consumption of pornography. Researchers have had difficulty replicating these results, however, and as a result the aggregate literature has failed to indicate conclusive results. Nevertheless, consistent findings have emerged linking adolescent use of pornography that depicts violence with increased degrees of sexually aggressive behavior. 

The literature does indicate some correlation between adolescents’ use of pornography and self-concept. Girls report feeling physically inferior to the women they view in pornographic material, while boys fear they may not be as virile or able to perform as the men in these media. Adolescents also report that their use of pornography decreased as their self-confidence and social development increase. Additionally, research suggests that adolescents who use pornography, especially that found on the Internet, have lower degrees of social integration, increases in conduct problems, higher levels of delinquent behavior, higher incidence of depressive symptoms, and decreased emotional bonding with caregivers

Auch da scheint mir die Richtung der Kausalität nicht ganz klar zu sein: Verhalten sich Jugendliche, die aggressive Pornos sehen sexuell aggressiver oder sehen aggressivere Jungs eher aggressiverer Pornos?

I have asked girls what messages they might like me to pass on to boys. So far, these messages include: „Stop telling us we are wet,“ „Stop commenting on our bodies,“ „Stop demanding pictures,“ „Rape jokes are never funny“ and „Sex before the age of consent is illegal.“

Das kommt mir schon relativ speziell vor, gerade die letzten beiden. Den den meisten zu jungen Mädchen ist es ja, wenn sie Sex wollen und der Junge interessant ist, relativ egal, dass das nicht legal ist. Allenfalls würden sie fordern, dass sich keine alten unattraktiven Säcke an sie ranmachen sollen.

The proliferation and globalisation of hypersexualised imagery and pornographic themes makes healthy sexual exploration almost impossible. Sexual conquest and domination are untempered by the bounds of respect, intimacy and authentic human connection. Young people are not learning about intimacy, friendship and love, but about cruelty and humiliation. As a recent study found:

„online mainstream pornography overwhelmingly centered on acts of violence and degradation toward women, the sexual behaviors exemplified in pornography skew away from intimacy and tenderness and typify patriarchal constructions of masculinity and femininity.“

Das wäre wohl diese Studie:

This article explores young people’s attitudes toward pornographic material.How do young people in general relate to and view pornography? Are thereany clear gender differences? On the basis of empirical results from an exten-sive Swedish survey study, we discuss and analyze how gender differences arearticulated. We are specifically interested in what kinds of attitudes youngmen and young women develop. A common conception of gender and theconsumption of pornography is that men and boys are generally the con-sumers, whereas women dislike pornography. Results from the present studypartly support these claims. However, we argue that it is important to analyze differences within the categories “men” and “women.” Here, we find that many young men are actually hold negative attitudes toward pornography,whereas some young women are positively disposed toward and enjoy pornography. These findings are discussed within the framework of gendertheory and theories of masculinity

It is intimacy and tenderness that so many girls and young women say they are looking for. A young woman told me that on dating sites she lists under „fetish“ wanting to stare longingly into someone’s eyes and to take sex slow. She said if she didn’t put these desires in the „fetish“ category, they wouldn’t warrant a second glance.

Richtig, weil Frauen, die auf Dating Seiten aktiv sind ja nicht mit Nachrichten überschwemmt werden, die teilweise lang und mit viel Mühe geschrieben sind und weit eher als Jungs, bei denen kaum Nachrichten eintreffen, die Auswahl haben.

But how will young women find these sensual, slow-burn experiences in men indoctrinated by pornography? Psychologist Philip Zimbardo says of young men: „They don’t know the language of face to face contact … Constant arousal, change, novelty excitement makes them out of sync with slow developing relationships – relationships which build slowly.“

 

Schon eine sehr krasse Sicht auf die Dinge. Als ob die Jungs nicht täglich mit ihren Mitschülerinnen zu tun haben und sich mit ihnen unterhalten. Als ob sie nicht mehr ausgehen und reden würden. Es scheint mir wirklich ein reines Propagandastück zu sein.

Most importantly, it’s young people themselves demanding change. Josie, 18, is quoted in the Plan Australia/Our Watch report:

„We need some sort of crack down on the violent pornography that is currently accessible to boys and men. This violent pornography should be illegal to make or view in Australia as we clearly have a problem with violence and boys are watching a lot of pornography which can be very violent … This is influencing men’s attitude towards women and what they think is acceptable. Violent pornography is infiltrating Australian relationships.“
Girls like Lucy and Josie deserve our response.

Der naive Glaube, dass man Pornos national reglementieren kann, erstaunt mich immer wieder. Wo zB das deutsche Jugendschutzrecht eine Altersverifizierung benötigt, benötigt das amerikanische Recht lediglich die Bestätigung, dass man über 18 Jahre alt ist. Selbst wenn alle australischen Seiten umschwenken wird man auf Pornhub und Youporn nach wie vor alles finden, was es an sexuellen Aktivitäten gibt.

Solange sie es nicht schaffen, Pornos weltweit zu reglementieren, ist jegliches Anstrengung schlicht hoffnungslos. Man kann die veränderte Haltung zu Sex nicht zurückschrauben (jedenfalls wenn man nicht Pille und andere Verhütungsmöglichkeiten abschafft).

Damit werden auch Ideologen leben müssen.
