Auf dem Blog „Feminist Critics“ wird ein Fall dargestellt, indem es ein feministischer Blog gut fand, dass ein Mann den Männern, die Frauen schlagen, Gewalt androhte. Dazu schreibt man dort:
It seems to me that this is a classic example of what I’ll call “patriarchal feminism”: the easy and unprincipled embrace of patriarchal double standards so long as those double standards operate for women’s benefit.
Patriarchal feminism is not the same as gynocentric feminism, but is properly seen as a subset of it. It is a particularly glaring example of the inegalitarian tendencies of gynocentric feminism in that it deploys or endorses specifically patriarchal approaches in order to improve or sustain women’s quality of life, even though those approaches are often explicitly sexist.
Ich denke auch, dass sich Teile des Feminismus gerne diesem Doppelstandard bedienen (wenn ich auch die Bezeichnung als patriarchalischen Feminismus ironisch, aber dennoch unpassend finde).
Dass ist zB der Fall wenn Männern vorgehalten wird, dass sie Versager sind (was ja eine Betonung der Versorgerrolle und des Statusgedankens ist) oder „echte Männer“ dies oder das nicht tun.
Zum konkreten Fall heißt es dann zu einem besseren Ansatz:
If one wanted to formulate a non-sexist rule about violence, it seems to me it would have to be something along the lines of, “A physically stronger person should never strike a physically weaker person.” Perhaps some exception should be built in to allow for ‘outside of outrageous verbal or emotional provocation,’ but that would certainly open up a thorny can of worms (to torture a metaphor).
Of course, a rule that ‘the strong must never strike the weak’ would completely undercut the foundation of the violent male dominance hierarchy on which patriarchy is generally built.
Und ohne diese Dominanzhierarchie geht eben auch das Feindbild flöten. Da ist es besser sich den Mann als Aggressor zu erhalten und selbst sexistisch zu sein.
