Arne hat eine interessante Studie besprochen, die sich damit beschäftigt, ob Feministinnen andere Werte im Bereich Narzissmus und Toleranz haben als Nichtfeministinnen:
Background:
The present study was aimed at discerning the impact of feminism on narcissism and tolerance for disagreement among females.
Methods:
For the purpose, a sample of 40 females belonging to the age group of 18-25 years was taken. The participants were divided into two groups: (feminists and non-feminists) on the basis of their self-ratings on the construct of feminism. Each group was assessed for their narcissism and tolerance for disagreement, quantitatively with the help of Dark Triad of Personality (D3-Short; narcissism sub-scale) and Tolerance for Disagreement Scale.Results:
The results of the study indicated that there was a significant difference in the levels of narcissism and tolerance for disagreement, among feminists and non-feminist females. And it was observed that, feminist females elicited a higher level of narcissism with a mean of 2.92, as compared to non-feminist females with a mean of 2.31; and lower levels of tolerance for disagreement was found in feminist females with a mean of 39.00, as opposed to non-feminist females with a mean of 52.15.
Conclusion:
There was a significant difference in the levels of narcissism and tolerance for disagreement, among feminist and non-feminist females. Also keine sehr hohe Teilnehmerzahl und etwas misstrauisch macht es mich auch, dass von den 40 Teilnehmern genau 20 Feministinnen und 20 Nichtfeministinnen waren. Das erscheint mir schon etwas merkwürdig. Wurde da eine gewisse Vorauswahl gemacht? Durchgeführt wurde die Studie anscheinend auch in Indien, einem Land in dem man vielleicht sogar noch Feministin sein könnte und es wäre etwas Gutes im Sinne von Gleichberechtigung.
Die Zeitschrift, in der die Studie veröffentlicht worden ist, das „India Journal of Mental Health“ scheint einen Impact Factor von unter 1 zu haben. Aber andererseits: Um so bekannter die Zeitschrift um so weniger würde sie eine Studie mit diesem Ergebnis wohl veröffentlichen.
Die Ergebnisse der Studie stehen ja schon in der Zusammenfassung, dass Paper an sich ist nicht sehr lang, so dass ich hier nur noch mal kurz auf die Zusammenfassung eingehe:

Da haben sie wohl recht, man bräuchte eine Wiederholung mit mehr Teilnehmern. Und mich würde eine Wiederholung mit einer größeren Anzahl an Studenten, möglichst noch in der „westlicheren Welt“ durchaus interessieren. Wird es aber wahrscheinlich nicht geben.
Dass bei „Modernen Feministinnen“ ein höherer Grad an Narzissmus und ein geringerer an Toleranz vorhanden ist würde ich trotz der Limitierungen dieser Studie auch vermuten. Diese Studie hier ist allerdings zum Beleg noch etwas dünn.

According to the dark-ego-vehicle principle (DEVP), individuals with so-called dark personalities (e.g., individuals with high narcissistic traits) are attracted to political and social activism not for the achievement of prosocial goals but to repurpose the activism so to satisfy their specific ego-focused needs. In this pre-registered study, we aimed at replicating and extending previous empirical evidence for the DEVP by examining the associations of pathological narcissism with involvement in feminist activism. A diverse US sample (N = 458) completed online measures of the Pathological Narcissism Inventory and several covariates (altruism, self-identification as a feminist, and age). Paralleling previous research, higher pathological narcissistic grandiosity was found to be statistically significantly related to greater involvement in feminist activism. Unexpectedly, gender did not moderate this relationship. Also, higher pathological narcissism was related to stronger self-identification as a feminist; however, pathological narcissistic grandiosity explained some variance in the involvement in feminist activism over and above feminist self-identification. In exploratory secondary analyses, we found that higher pathological narcissism was associated with specific feminist conversational interaction behaviors (e.g., correcting other’s non-feminist language). Overall, the findings are further support for the DEVP.

The Dark Triad traits are considered a male-centric framework of personality with women generally scoring lower on narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy. Research has examined the drivers behind this relationship attributing effects mostly to biological or evolutionary reasons with less work understanding environmental factors. To date, no research has examined the relationship between the Dark Triad and attitudes towards feminism. Three hundred and forty-three participants completed self-report measures of the Dark Triad and feminist attitudes. Results reported no differences between men and women on feminist attitudes, but men scored higher on the Dark Triad. Multiple linear regression indicated a negative association between the Dark Triad and feminist attitudes with all three traits significantly negatively contributing to the model. In all cases, this effect was stronger in men. These findings suggest that whilst men and women hold similar feminist attitudes, Dark Triad traits may facilitate a disregard for feminism.

In this preregistered study, we tested the dark-ego-vehicle principle. This principle states that individuals with dark personalities, such as high narcissistic traits, are inclined to become involved in certain kinds of ideologies and political activism. We argue that narcissistic individuals can be attracted to anti-sexual assault activism because this form of activism may provide them with opportunities to obtain positive self-presentation (e.g., virtue signaling), gain status, dominate others, and engage in social conflicts to get their thrills. A diverse US sample (N = 313) completed online measures of narcissistic traits and involvement in anti-sexual assault activism. In addition, relevant covariates were assessed (i.e., age, gender, adult sexual assault history, sexual harassment myth acceptance, and altruism), and the interaction between narcissistic traits and gender was considered. The results of the multiple regression analysis showed that higher narcissistic traits predicted an individual’s higher involvement in anti-sexual assault activism over and above the covariates. However, this relationship was evident only for the women in this sample. Notably, a higher level of altruism in an individual was also substantially associated with higher involvement in anti-sexual assault activism. We discuss how the narcissism-by-gender interaction may be in line with the dark-ego-vehicle principle.
